Chef John Wabeck makes his kitchen swan song Saturday, August 9th, when he and Logan Cox work side by side to dish up a four-course meal honoring John's celebrated career in the kitchen and his years as Executive Chef at New Heights. The outgoing chef will retire his apron to suit up as Sommelier and Mixologist at Inox, to open later this year.
In charge of the first and second courses, John will for the last time display his stunningly creative and sometimes zany take on New American cuisine. Logan, who plans to carry on New Heights' long standing reputation as a DC landmark for New American cooking, makes his debut with the hors d'ouvres and entrée course for Wabeck's good-bye.
Logan comes to the Exec Chef position from the Mobil five-star rated Woodlands Inn and Resort in Summerville, South Carolina, where he was Sous Chef under Tarver King, Grand Chef Relais and Chateaux. Before that, Logan worked in DC with renowned Palena Chef Frank Ruta.
The two chefs are joined by Derek Brown, former Sommelier at Komi, who has selected the cocktail and optional wine pairings for the dinner. Derek also kicks off the celebration with a reception at New Heights' bar - aka “The Gin Joint” - featuring several gins and a special drink menu to complement Chef Logan's hors d'oeuvres.
